Salary: $15,000 – $20,000 for the contract duration, commensurate with experience and living arrangements.

Position Summary
Orangeville Prep Basketball Academy is seeking a passionate and committed Head Coach for our Varsity 2 Basketball Team. This role is ideal for a coach dedicated to developing high-performance athletes in a structured, elite prep environment. The successful candidate will lead in all facets of the program while serving as a positive mentor to young student-athletes.
While not a mandatory requirement, this role offers a residential option that includes full room and board. Living on campus is considered a strong asset, as it allows the coach to fully integrate into our academy environment and build meaningful relationships with players and staff.
Whether living on or off-campus, this position requires a high level of maturity and responsibility to oversee and mentor minors. Candidates must provide a clean Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and possess a valid G-level driver’s license.
Reporting to the Manager, Admissions & Recruiting, this role supports cross-functional collaboration across the Basketball Academy to ensure total alignment in culture, training, and communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all practices, games, individual training sessions, film sessions, and strength & conditioning sessions
- Partner with the Strength and Conditioning Coach alongside the Admissions & Recruiting team to identify development areas for all athletes; build, maintain, and regularly update individual development profiles to share with parents.
- Maintain a respectful living environment by holding student-athletes accountable to residence expectations and ensuring the facility remains well-cared for.
- Support academic liaison efforts to ensure student-athletes are progressing toward post-secondary eligibility and success.
- Participate in scouting, recruitment, and evaluation of prospective student-athletes, both domestically and internationally.
- Coordinate logistics for team travel, accommodation, and tournaments.
- Drive student-athletes to practices, games, and events, performing regular circle checks on academy vehicles and adhering to all usage protocols.
- Coach with the Orangeville Bears Basketball Club (OBA) and teach weekly group skill sessions in rotation.
- Lead cross-program collaboration, including running practices for other academy teams when required.
- Lead the hiring, integration, and mentorship of Assistant Coaches for the program.
- Assist with game-day setup and breakdown.
- Contribute to media content and social media storytelling to help raise program visibility.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by leadership.

- Takes personal ownership of safety, facility maintenance, and player attendance, consistently driving results without requiring close management.
Qualifications:
- Prior head coaching or senior assistant coaching experience at the prep, club, collegiate, or high school level is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of player development and the Canadian/North American basketball pathway.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Must hold a valid G driver's license and be comfortable operating academy vehicles.
- Must provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) to work with minors.
- Ability to live on campus and successfully engage in a residential school environment is an asset.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or a willingness to complete training prior to start date).
- NCCP coaching certifications are considered a strong asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and standard digital tools.
