ABOUT US

Chroma Music Studio is seeking a passionate and dedicated piano teacher to join our esteemed faculty. We are a music school offering primarily In-Home piano and theory lessons, meeting the needs of busy families. We are committed to providing high-quality music education to students of all ages and skill levels. If you are a skilled pianist with a passion for teaching, a desire to inspire students, and want the freedom to choose your work hours, we invite you to apply for this position.

This is a self-employed, contract-based teaching position, with most lessons running 30 to 60 minutes and opportunities ranging from a few hours a week up to a full teaching roster, depending on your availability.

We handle the marketing and actively match and refer students to our teachers, so you can spend your time teaching instead of building a client list from scratch.
Ongoing support from our team and unlimited access to teaching resources and materials, so you always have what you need to plan engaging lessons.
Bonus travel compensation available for lessons beyond a set distance from home base, to help offset the cost of driving between student homes.

Responsibilities:

Delivering engaging and comprehensive in-home piano lessons to students of various ages and skill levels.
Creating individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's goals, abilities, and learning style.
Teaching music theory, technique, sight-reading, and repertoire.
Preparing students for performances, recitals, competitions and examinations as required.
Monitoring and tracking student progress, providing regular feedback, and setting realistic goals.
Fostering a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student creativity, motivation, and musical expression.
Collaborating with parents and students to ensure open communication and mutual understanding of expectations.
Maintaining accurate records of attendance, lesson plans, and student evaluations.
Ensuring and upholding a level of professionalism suitable for individuals of all age groups.
Travel to student homes to teach lessons
Communicating promptly and effectively with studio administration, and keeping administration and/or students informed of any schedule changes as soon as they arise

Qualifications:

A piano exam certificate (ie: RCM Practical/Theory Exam) or a bachelor's degree in music, piano performance, education or a related field.
Knowledge of music theory, sight-reading, and piano pedagogy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple students and schedules.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for staying updated with current teaching methodologies and trends in music education.
Ability to inspire and motivate students of different ages and skill levels.
Any secondary language is an asset
A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle to travel to student homes.
Must be located or able to travel within Mississauga for in-home lessons (Oakville and Milton locations are also available).
As we work closely with children in their homes, all successful applicants will be required to provide a recent criminal record and vulnerable sector check prior to starting. The safety and comfort of our students is a top priority for us.
