Parker Johnston Industries Ltd has an exciting opportunity for a Field Operations Managers to join our team in our Calgary, AB office. Parker Johnston Industries has been in the cladding and roofing business for over seventy years and is a multi-generational family business, committed to providing the highest level of service to our residential and commercial customers in Western Canada.

As an integral part of the team, you will strive for continuous improvement, bring forward ideas and processes to better support internal teams, and manage a fluid task list with a positive attitude.

Level of Experience and Practical/Technical Skills Required

This position requires industry experience of 15 years with a reputable firm
Good understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements for the wall system and general construction industry
And advanced knowledge of various wall cladding types (ACM, Cement Based, Phenolic, Clay), rainscreen systems, construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control and engineering drawings
The ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes and produce workable solutions for multiple projects at once and lead teams to successful completion
A moderate level of computer literacy is required including knowledge of software programs used by the company, including Microsoft Office, spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting applications
Ability to motivate, direct, and train subordinates including superintendents, foremen and tradespersons. Strong time management and organizational skills are required.
Sound technical knowledge of company’s products, services, and procedures required to produce accurate and meaningful estimating results. The incumbent should be capable of negotiating with clients in potentially sensitive situations, retaining the clients’ goodwill while achieving the company’s objectives
A high level of interpersonal and communication (both oral and written) skills required to portray a professional image to the staff, suppliers, public, and clientele
Ability to use good judgment, be self motivated and exercise independent discretion at all times

Major Activities

Maintains/oversees the quality of all applications including metal/composite fabrications (assists Superintendents/Foremen in these regards)
Provide overall site operations management on multiple projects in conjunction with the Project Management Team, Technical Production Team, Shop Team, estimating Team and Safety Team.
Maintain and enforce a safe working environment for all employees in conjunction with the Safety Manager and Worker’s Compensation Board guidelines
Manage field staff (superintendents and foremen) to ensure the compliance of construction with the drawings and specifications as well as internal documents (shop drawings, product data).
Plan and implement schedules, determine manpower levels and material quantities and ensure proper equipment and trades are available as required
Lead project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the team’s ongoing progression
Advise Project Manager team of potential problems, work interference and schedule difficulties and assist in resolving these problems
Assist in preparing up-to-date cost reports and submit necessary changes to ensure each project is delivered within the budget
Compile estimations of materials and labor accurately and fairly to all concerned where required
Conveys the company’s focus on a safe work environment to all concerned, including employees, other management, and customers
Recruitment and hiring of new employees where possible
Maintain constant dialogue with related superintendents, foremen, and clients throughout ongoing jobs
Ensures month end cut off procedures are followed for work in progress as deemed necessary by accounting
Reviews job costs in detail at job completion and identifies errors accurately and quickly to ensure job costing parameters are maintained
Strives to complete work within approved budget levels
Ensures customer satisfaction through job completion and beyond
Other duties assigned from time to time by the General Manager
Maintains customer goodwill by providing prompt, efficient and courteous service while promoting the company’s business

Minor Activities:

Performs safety and quality checks of jobsites at each site visit
Monitor all contracts for completion and billing in a timely fashion
Ensure company vehicle is kept current for insurance, parking decals and maintenance in coordination with fleet supervisor
Ensure Employee information is kept confidential, maintained in orderly files under restricted access

Wage: $90,000.00 - $140,000.00 annually dependent on experience
