About Avion Technologies Inc.
Avion Technologies Inc. is an AS9100 registered precision manufacturing company located in Mississauga, Ontario. We support demanding industries where quality, traceability, compliance, and product conformity are critical.
We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to lead our Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions and maintain the high standards required by our customers and regulatory environment.
The Role
The QA Manager will have overall responsibility for Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities and will ensure products consistently meet customer, regulatory, contractual, and internal requirements.
This is a hands-on Quality leadership position, not solely a QMS administration role.
The successful candidate must be comfortable leading the QA/Inspection function, making product conformity decisions, managing non-conformances and corrective actions, interpreting aerospace customer requirements, and representing the company during AS9100 and customer audits.
Direct AS9100 aerospace manufacturing experience is a mandatory qualification for this position. ISO 9001 experience alone does not meet this requirement.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Inspection Leadership
- Lead and prioritize the day-to-day activities of the Quality department.
- Ensure first-off, in-process, receiving, and final inspections are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
- Direct and support QA/Inspection personnel and resolve competing priorities based on production schedules, customer requirements, and business needs.
- Ensure manufactured products meet customer purchase order requirements, drawings, specifications, flowed-down requirements, and applicable regulatory and contractual standards.
- Maintain independent authority for product conformity and make appropriate decisions regarding product acceptance, release, rejection, and non-conformance.
- Review and approve Certificates of Conformance, Certificates of Compliance, NCRs, CARs, and applicable product release documentation.
- Identify Quality department resource requirements and recommend appropriate staffing, inspection equipment, tooling, or process improvements.
Non-Conformance & Corrective Action
- Lead and manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process, ensuring quality issues are identified, documented, communicated, and addressed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate non-conformance activities with customers, suppliers, Production, Engineering, and other internal stakeholders as required.
- Lead the Corrective Action process and ensure root causes are properly identified.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented on time and verified for effectiveness.
- Monitor recurring quality issues and drive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Promote a practical, problem-solving approach to improving product quality and manufacturing performance.
Quality Management System & Compliance
- Maintain and continuously improve the company's Quality Management System, procedures, work instructions, standards, and specifications.
- Ensure continued compliance with AS9100, applicable customer requirements, and other regulatory or certification requirements.
- Review new and existing customer quality requirements and ensure they are properly documented, communicated, and maintained.
- Ensure customer-specific and flowed-down quality requirements are understood and implemented throughout the organization.
- Lead and host AS9100 certification/surveillance audits, customer audits, Controlled Goods audits, and other applicable regulatory or certification audits.
- Conduct or coordinate internal audits for applicable Quality, Security, Environmental, and Health & Safety management systems.
- Ensure audit findings and resulting corrective actions are properly addressed and closed.
Supplier Quality & Calibration
- Establish and maintain quality requirements for purchased raw materials, hardware, and supplier-provided products.
- Conduct or coordinate supplier audits, inspections, approvals, and other supplier quality activities.
- Work with suppliers to address non-conformances and corrective actions when required.
- Ensure inspection and measurement equipment is properly calibrated in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Ensure calibration records are complete, accurate, and properly maintained.
Performance, Training & Continuous Improvement
- Establish, collect, analyze, and report Quality and organizational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor quality performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Establish and maintain processes for measuring and reporting customer satisfaction.
- Lead Management Review Meetings and ensure resulting actions are assigned, tracked, and completed.
- Identify organizational training requirements and support the development, maintenance, and monitoring of training programs.
- Partner with Operations and other departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Champion improvements in employee performance, product quality, process effectiveness, and overall operational performance.

- Minimum 6 years of hands-on Quality Assurance / Quality Management experience in aerospace manufacturing, including direct experience working within an AS9100 Quality Management System
- Strong practical knowledge of AS9100 requirements and their application within a manufacturing operation.
- Demonstrated experience training, coaching, and developing QA Inspectors in inspection methods, quality requirements, documentation practices, and applicable procedures.

- Experience working with aerospace customer quality requirements and customer audits.

You will be expected to make sound and independent decisions regarding product conformity while working collaboratively with Operations and other departments to meet quality, production, delivery, and customer requirements.
We are looking for someone who can lead the Quality function—not simply administer the Quality Management System.
