Work Schedule: Day Shift, 8 hours per day including 30min meal break

Position Summary:
As the Manufacturing Engineer, this individual will be primarily responsible for the analysis, design, development and successful execution and delivery of Manufacturing/Plant optimization initiatives. The successful candidate will be a proven, detail-oriented, Continuous Improvement/Manufacturing Engineer who will be tasked to monitor, collect data, conduct studies and ultimately provide analysis and insight into KEY improvements for our current Plant Operations. This individual will determine courses of action and develop tactical plans to deliver more efficient operational processes that directly contribute to company profitability.
Essential Functions:
Review and Analysis of Production Schedules, Processes, Specifications
- Work with the Director of Technical Services on delivering Strategic Operational Results via OGSM; Cost Reduction, Process efficiency, Waste Reduction, Quality Improvement.
- Work with various multi-disciplinary teams to reduce process and business variations.
- Collaborate with the Scheduling Department to understand improvement opportunities, and to deliver fully optimized Production schedules.
- Develop and provide training on Standardized Startup and Shut Down procedures of all Production Lines.
Designing Production Processes/ Maximization of Efficiency and Reduction of Losses(s)
- Analyze data to understand down time and create mitigation tactics
- Create an expert level understanding of existing bottlenecks and provide recommendations for correction.
- Work with the CI Team to develop a LOSS REDUCTION strategy (per line) with emphasis on the utilization of proven Continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
Development and Implementation of Process Improvement and Supporting Technical Upgrades
- Utilize Continuous improvement methodologies to develop the most efficient ways to utilize, people, machinery, materials, information and energy to deliver our PRODUCTS/SKU’s.
- Evaluate and consider product design and development changes, to optimize output on existing equipment, and/or the effect of additional technical support/equipment alternatives.
- Regularly works with and provides internal TRAINING to Production Team members on industry standard Continuous Improvement methodologies and support tools.
- Develop and execute process and equipment modifications and upgrades using established engineering and project management best practices
Designs Layout and Production Line Configuration of Facilities and Staffing Requirements
- Develop specific data Studies through MOST and VSM to determine “spacial” optimization opportunities and material flow improvements to drive productivity metrics.
- Design improved layouts conducive to improved ergonomic employee outcomes and overall health and wellness.
Create Team TRAINING formats, including supporting documentation and instructional templates for NEW & EXISTING Equipment and Process
- Support the AR Training Platform by ensuring all content is optimized for effective training and development of Production and Maintenance Supervisors, Lead Hands and Operators/Technicians.
- Develop into the Operational “Black Hat” expert to support the Engineering Team with equipment FATs and INSTALLATIONS; essentially the continuity specialist with Project transitions to the Plant Operations Team.
Health & Safety:
- Conduct all Job Tasks in a Safe and Responsible manner.
- Be a KEY member in the SITE JHSC and participate in all Health and Safety, GMP and HACCP training and improvement initiatives, as required.
- Report any accidents, incidents and unsafe/hazardous conditions to your Manager.
- Report any damages of property and machinery to your Manager.
- Ensure that you understand how and when to use the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) that is located in your work area.
- Ensure you comply with OHSA, WSIB, MOL regulations and/or laws that govern “workers” responsibilities in the workplace (covered during orientation – section 28 of the OHSA i.e. “Green Book”) and Comply with Tradition Fine Foods Ltd. Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP Programs
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or a related equivalent.
- Preferably 5 years relevant experience in a Manufacturing environment Training in Continuous Improvement Methodologies and Tools (6 Sigma, Toyota Lean Manufacturing)
- Advanced knowledge of Production equipment, processes and standards
- Project Management training/designation is helpful
- Strong Communication and Presentation skills
- Excellent Documentation and Organizational skills
- Strong Computer Proficiency in MS OFFICE (Word, Excel & PPT) and AUTOCAD, SOLIDWORKS
- Available for shift work, as needed.
