Join Our Team as a Loader Operator
We’re hiring a Loader Operator to join our team supporting client mine sites across British Columbia and the Yukon. The ideal candidate has strong wheel loader proficiency, excellent spatial awareness, and a proven commitment to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Safely and efficiently feed crushing plants and related equipment using Cat 980-class (or equivalent) wheel loaders.
- Operate equipment strictly within manufacturer specifications and safe operating parameters.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the assigned equipment.
- Perform and document daily equipment inspections in accordance with the Kode maintenance program at prescribed intervals.
- Immediately report any damage, defects, or wear issues to the Supervisor.
- Perform routine daily maintenance (e.g., blow out air filters, check oils and fluids, grease, inspect tires and tire pressures).
- Record daily volumes using onboard weigh scales; maintain a thorough understanding of scale calibration requirements and intervals.
- Monitor crushing equipment operations and promptly report any concerns to the Foreman/Supervisor.
- Read the pit face and blend materials appropriately for production requirements.
- Maintain a level, safe pit floor to protect people and equipment.
- Carry out tasks assigned by the Foreman/Supervisor safely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
- Perform daily housekeeping of assigned equipment; keep cabs and exteriors clean and presentable.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order; report deficiencies to the Foreman/Supervisor.
- Read, understand, and apply Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) for loader operation.
- Assist the crushing crew with repairs and maintenance of the crushing plant as required.
- Actively participate in safety programs (e.g., online training, lockout/tagout, daily toolbox meetings, FLHAs, and use of required PPE).
Education, Experience & Qualifications
- 3–5 years operating a wheel loader (minimum 844 size; Cat 980 or equivalent preferred) in a crushing operation at a mine site, quarry, or gravel pit, including experience with crusher on tracks and fixed plant.
- Mine Supervisor Certificate is an asset.
- Demonstrated success working within a preventative maintenance program.
- Strong understanding of safe and efficient wheel loader operation.
- General mechanical aptitude is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Solid working knowledge of construction/mining machinery, equipment, practices, and mechanical devices.
- Proven safety record and clear understanding of OH&S requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and relationship building abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to foster a positive work environment aligned with company values and goals.
- Positive, customer-focused attitude with willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.
- Willingness to travel to remote mine sites and work in camp settings.
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, subject to applicable laws, human rights obligations, and the collective agreement.
- Valid driver’s license required; annual driver’s abstract must be provided and maintained in good standing

Union Membership: This is a unionized position. Union membership is required effective upon hire, and union dues will be deducted from your pay. Your employment terms and conditions will be governed by the applicable collective agreement.
- Hourly rate: CA$35.61 (commensurate with experience and qualifications).

Working Conditions:
- Remote site work across BC and the Yukon for extended periods, including camp-based accommodation.
- Exposure to outdoor and industrial environments, variable weather, dust, and noise; appropriate PPE provided.
- Rotational schedules may apply per project and the collective agreement.

Pay: $35.00-$36.00 per hour
