The Opportunity: Sault College is seeking a dynamic and experiences plumbing professional to join the School of Trades, Technology & Apprenticeship as a permanent full-time Professor in Plumbing.
This position will play a key role in development and delivery of the new one-year Plumbing program designed to align with Ontario apprenticeship curriculum standards and support graduates pursuing careers in the plumbing trade, including progression into apprenticeship pathways.
The successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development, shop and lab instruction, student mentorship, and ongoing program growth within a collaborative trades education environment.
About the Program
The new Plumbing program is being developed with strong alignment to Ontario apprenticeship curriculum standards for the Plumber (306A) trade. Program content will include foundational plumbing theory and hands-on training in areas such as:
- Plumbing safety practices and regulations
- Plumbing code interpretation
- Drain, waste, and vent (DWV) systems
- Water distribution systems
- Blueprint reading and trade documentation
- Pipe joining methods and installation techniques
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Develop and deliver plumbing curriculum in classroom, shop, and lab settings
- Provide theoretical and practical instruction aligned with industry standards and apprenticeship expectations
- Demonstrate safe and effective use of plumbing tools, equipment, materials, and installation methods
- Evaluate student achievement through assignments, testing, projects, and practical assessments
- Maintain current knowledge of industry practices, codes, regulations, and emerging technologies
- Work collaboratively with faculty, technologists and support staff within the school
Qualifications
Required:
- Certificate of Qualification as a Plumber (306A) in Ontario
- Minimum 5 years of recent and relevant industry experience
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, code requirements, piping methods, and safe work practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy and willingness to use educational technologies and learning management systems
Preferred Assets:
- Previous teaching, mentoring, apprenticeship training, supervisory experience
- Experience in residential, commercial, and/or industrial plumbing environments
- Additional certifications related to construction safety, welding, hydronics, gas fitting, or related fields

This is a full-time position, up to 44 hours/week. Pay range is $77,153 - $133,752 annually. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
