The Father’s House (TFH) is a growing, multi-environment church family based near Morinville, Alberta, serving Sturgeon County, Rochester, and TFH Christian School. Our mission is to help people find their way home to God and grow as disciples of Jesus.
We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and service-minded Custodian & Facilities Assistant to help care for our church and school facilities. This hands-on role supports the daily ministry of The Father’s House by ensuring our spaces are clean, safe, organized, and prepared for worship services, school activities, meetings, and community events. The successful candidate will play an important role in creating welcoming environments where people can connect, learn, worship, and grow.
Facilities & Setup Coordinator
The Custodian & Facilities Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s facilities are clean, safe, organized, and prepared for daily operations, events, and ministry activities. This role supports the overall function of the building through routine cleaning, room setup and takedown, facility maintenance, and event support.
The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while serving a variety of staff, volunteers, and guests.
Core Responsibilities
Facility Setup & Event Support
- Set up and tear down rooms for services, meetings, classes, events, and special functions according to established layouts.
- Arrange and store tables, chairs, staging, audiovisual equipment, and other event-related furnishings.
- Ensure rooms are prepared, stocked, and ready for scheduled activities.
- Reset spaces following events and return rooms to their standard configurations.
- Assist with moving equipment, furniture, and supplies as needed throughout the facility.
- Coordinate setup priorities based on facility schedules and organizational needs.
- Conduct pre-event and post-event inspections to ensure spaces are safe, organized, and ready for use.
- Support staff and ministry leaders by responding to setup-related requests and facility needs.
Custodial & Facility Care
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the facility, including offices, classrooms, meeting rooms, lobby, auditorium, hallways, kitchens, and washrooms.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize surfaces according to established cleaning standards.
- Clean and restock washrooms and custodial supplies.
- Empty garbage and recycling receptacles throughout the facility and property.
- Monitor facility conditions and address routine cleaning needs in a timely manner.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, equipment issues, or repair needs.
- Maintain custodial equipment through regular inspections, ensuring all equipment is clean, functional, and properly organized.
- Assist in maintaining the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of the building and grounds.
- Follow all health, safety, and cleaning procedures while using custodial equipment and supplies.
- Order, organize, and maintain custodial supplies to support seasonal and ongoing facility needs.

- Requires flexibility, reliability, and the ability to adapt to changing schedules and needs.
- Supports ministry, events, and school functioning by maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in custodial work, facilities maintenance, or event setup preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, moving furniture, standing, bending, and extended periods of activity.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, organized environment.
- Ability to follow instructions, schedules, and established procedures with consistency.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Flexible availability, including occasional evenings and weekends for events.
- Basic understanding of cleaning products, equipment, and safe work practices (training provided if needed).
- A positive, service-oriented attitude aligned with supporting a ministry or team environment.
- Ability to utilize church calendaring systems and email to track events, updates, and changes to the regular facility schedule.
Support Structure
This role is supported by the Facilities Manager as well as the Principal and Administration of The Father’s House Christian School.
Facilities Manager (Direct Supervisor)
- Day-to-day oversight of duties
- Work assignments, scheduling, priorities, and performance management
- Training, safety compliance, custodial standards, and facility procedures
Principal & School Administration
- Provides input on school operational needs, schedules, and events
- Communicates priorities related to school programming and facility use
- Collaborates on planning for school-wide activities and space requirements
What Success Looks Like
- The facility is consistently clean, safe, and well-prepared for daily use, events, and programming.
- Rooms are set up, taken down, and reset accurately and on time according to schedules and requests.
- Transitions between events and activities are smooth with minimal disruption.
- Custodial standards are consistently maintained across all areas of the building.
- Equipment and supplies are well maintained, organized, and adequately stocked.
- Schedule changes and event needs are communicated and executed clearly and efficiently.
- Proactive attention is given to identifying and addressing facility needs before issues arise.
- Strong collaboration is maintained with the Facilities Manager and school leadership.
- The overall environment is welcoming, orderly, and supports the mission and activities of the organization.

Living in or near Morinville, Alberta, is considered a very strong asset, as the role requires flexibility and timely response to custodial and facility needs.

The Father’s House is open to filling this role in the way that best serves the needs of the church and school. Depending on the experience, availability, and strengths of the successful applicant(s), this position may be filled as:
- One full-time position
- One or more part-time positions
- A contracted arrangement

Our preference is for the successful candidate(s) to begin in August, though some flexibility may be available depending on availability and the needs of the church.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is expected to range between $20.00 and $25.00 per hour, depending on the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications, education, overall fit for the role, and employment arrangement.
