Fabrication Processor
MC3 Manufacturing Inc. – Leamington, ON – Pay based on experience
The role
Every job that runs through this shop starts with someone who figured out how to make it. That’s what a Fabrication Processor does. You take a customer drawing, break it down into individual parts, decide how each one gets made, and put together a complete package that the production team can run with – no guessing, no missing information, no back-and-forth.
This is a shop-floor-connected role. The people who thrive here are the ones who’ve spent time in and around fabrication – who know what a laser operator or a press brake tech actually needs to see on a drawing, and who get satisfaction from putting together a package that just works.
No formal degree required. If you know how parts are made, we want to talk.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll take customer drawings and job information and turn them into everything the shop needs to get started. That means breaking the product into parts, picking the right process for each one, building the drawings and files, and checking your own work before it goes out. A clean release means production can start without coming back to you with questions – that’s the standard.
Day to day
- Review customer drawings and job information to understand what needs to be built
- Break down products into individual parts and determine the best way to make each one
- Create sheet metal and weldment parts in SolidWorks for laser and tube laser operations
- Build cutting lists in Excel for manual saw-cut jobs
- Create dimensioned drawings for forming, cutting, and machining operations
- Make sure every drawing is clear, complete, and ready to use on the floor
- Add notes and callouts so production has the full picture before they start
- Prepare files for internal processes and outside vendors as needed
- Self-check everything and release complete, clean job packages to production
What you bring
You don’t need to have done every process, but you need to have done some of them. We’re looking for someone who has real, hands-on familiarity with at least two or three of the following:
- Laser cutting – sheet or tube
- Forming/press brake
- Welding
- Machining
- Paint and assembly
Beyond that, here’s what we’re looking for:
- Comfortable reading and working from technical drawings
- Experience working in or alongside a fabrication shop floor
- Organized and detail-oriented – you catch your own mistakes
- Able to think a step ahead and spot problems before they reach production
- Works independently once they understand the process
SolidWorks experience is a bonus. Fabrication knowledge is the foundation – we can build the software skills from there.
What success looks like
- Job packages leave your hands clean, complete, and ready to run
- Production has everything they need before work starts – no chasing information
- Drawing errors are caught before they reach the floor, not after
- Within three months, you’re processing and releasing jobs on your own
What to expect when you start
You’ll spend time on the shop floor getting hands-on with each process, starting with the press brake. We want you to understand what you’re supporting before you start processing it. We check in early – the first couple of weeks matter, and we’ll make sure you have what you need to get up to speed.
