Full job description

Overview

We are a busy and well-established law office seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting & Office Administrator to support both our financial operations and day-to-day office function.

This is a part-time, in person role suited to someone who works well independently and takes ownership of their responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is comfortable handling internal accounting, payroll administration, and general office operations in a professional, client-focused environment. Legal accounting experience is an asset, not a requirement - we are open to a strong candidate who is willing to learn firm-specific compliance processes.

Core Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Administration

- Process accounts payable and receivable

- Coordinate payroll and maintain payroll records

- Perform bank and account reconciliations

- Support trust and general account administration (training provided for firm-specific compliance processes)

- Assist with financial reporting and year-end preparation

- Liaise with external accountants and financial institutions as needed

Office Administration

- Oversee daily office operations and general workflow

- Manage and organize files, including sensitive and confidential materials

- Supporting lawyers and staff with day-to-day administrative needs

- Coordinating schedules, supplies, and internal processes

- Maintain a professional, organized, and respectful office environment

What We’re Looking For

- Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or office administration- ideally in a legal or professional services setting

- Familiarity with Law Society compliance or trust accounting is a strong asset but not required

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

- Clear and professional written and verbal communication

- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

- Proficiency with accounting software (Brief, Leap, Quickbooks, or similar) and Microsoft Office
