Opening: Summer 2026

The Clayfield is a new 102-room luxury boutique hotel opening in Niagara-on-the-Lake and part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The hotel will deliver a highly personalized, refined guest experience grounded in calm luxury, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of place, with dining and gathering playing a central role in that vision.

The Clayfield has partnered with Ascari Hospitality Group for all food & beverage operations including Terrain Restaurant, lobby lounge, Terrace, in-room dining, banquets, and off-site catering.

Located amongst the vineyards of Niagara on the Lake in the heart of Ontario’s wine country, our boutique hotel restaurant offers an intimate casual fine-dining experience. We will be a wine country restaurant that focuses on the local produce of Niagara and offering the best of the seasons. Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in baking and pastry arts, with experience in cake decorating and food presentation. This role involves preparing a variety of baked goods and desserts, ensuring high-quality standards, and delivering exceptional customer service. The Pastry Cook will play a key role in supporting the pastry chef and creating visually appealing and delicious pastries that enhance our restaurant’s reputation for excellence.

Responsibilities

Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, cakes, and desserts according to established recipes and standards
Decorate cakes and pastries with artistic flair, utilizing cake decorating techniques to create visually stunning products
Ensure all baked goods meet food safety and quality standards
Handle food preparation tasks including measuring, mixing, and portioning ingredients
Package baked items for sale or delivery while maintaining presentation quality
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station, adhering to food handling and safety regulations
Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely production of menu items during service hours
Assist in inventory management by monitoring ingredient levels and notifying management of supply needs

Requirements

Proven experience in baking, pastry arts, or a related culinary field; restaurant experience preferred
Strong skills in cake decorating, food preparation, and food handling techniques
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper kitchen sanitation practices
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
Experience with food industry equipment such as mixers, ovens, and decorating tools is desirable
A passion for baking, creativity in pastry presentation, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
