About the Role
The Budds' Group of Companies is a family-owned organization based in Oakville, Ontario. Our operations include automotive retail, service, and related businesses across multiple locations. Our IT team supports a diverse and growing technology environment that keeps our employees connected and our businesses running efficiently every day.
Our IT team is seeking a skilled Intermediate IT Technician to assist in supporting our environment. Well-suited for a professional with a proven track record of working autonomously in a business setting, this position goes beyond traditional Level 1 support capabilities. You will be expected to manage everyday incidents independently, apply sound technical judgment, and take ownership of issues from initial discovery to final resolution.
If you are a resourceful troubleshooter who stays organized when you're busy and takes pride in resolving complex desktop and user access issues, we want to hear from you.
We offer a stable, professional environment with opportunities to grow your technical skills while supporting a diverse multi-site organization.
- Compensation & Stability: Permanent, full-time employment within a well-established organization.
- Travel Allowance: $0.55 / km mileage reimbursement for work-related travel between company locations.
- Device Allowance: $50 / month cellphone allowance.
- Work-Life Balance: Lieu time provided for occasional after-hours maintenance or deployments.
- On-Site & Field Support: Provide professional, face-to-face deskside support across various Budds' Group locations when issues cannot be resolved remotely. (This is not an "on the road" position, but it does require travel between our locations when needed for hardware support or deployments.)
- Independent IT Support: Respond to, troubleshoot, and fully resolve a wide range of incoming IT service requests and incidents. This includes Windows 11 desktops/laptops, hardware peripherals, and core Microsoft applications.
- Identity & Access Management: Independently handle the user account lifecycle (onboarding, offboarding, provisioning, and password resets) within a hybrid Microsoft 365 environment.
- Hardware Deployment & Lifecycle: Perform end-to-end setup, data migration, configuration, and secure decommissioning of end-user computing equipment.
- Documentation: Consistently and accurately document work performed within our ticketing system, identifying documentation gaps and updating procedures when necessary.
This role requires the following:
- Real-time verbal communication: in person and by telephone with end users.
- Visual inspection: hardware, cabling, screens, and printed documentation.
- Lifting and transporting: IT equipment up to 50 lbs and navigating stairs, server rooms, and workstation areas.
- Independent travel: between company locations using a personal vehicle.
- Experience: 3+ years of hands-on IT support experience in a business environment.
- Autonomy & Judgment: Proven ability to troubleshoot methodically and independently without immediate supervisor intervention, knowing when to escalate and when to own an issue.
- Technical Stack: Strong working knowledge of Windows 11, Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive), Active Directory and Entra ID user/group management.
- Networking Basics: Familiarity with user-level networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and VPN troubleshooting.
- Mobility: A valid Ontario G2 or full G driver's license and a reliable personal vehicle are required for routine travel between local sites.
- Tools: A personal smartphone capable of supporting multi-factor authentication and work-related communications is required.
- Expected Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 annually (dependent on experience).
- Position Status: Newly Created Role (This posting is for a new position, not a replacement for an existing vacancy).
- Artificial Intelligence Disclosure: We use AI-assisted tools to help review applications and identify candidates who meet objective job-related criteria. All screening decisions, interviews, and hiring decisions are made by people.
- Accessibility & Accommodation: We are committed to fair, equitable, and accessible recruitment practices. Requests for accommodation during the selection process will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants must be able to perform the essential duties of the role, with or without accommodation.
